Open Chrome on the streaming PC and follow only the outputs you need. Ten minutes the first time.
Chrome or Edge
On the streaming PC. Nothing to install.
An audio input
The mic, or your streaming software's audio (screen/tab audio).
A streaming tool
OBS, YouTube Studio, or the streaming app. The overlay goes in as an OBS browser source.
YouTube Live
Send captions to YouTube CC
barolive posts translated captions straight to your YouTube Studio caption ingestion URL. Viewers turn them on with the player's CC button. YouTube takes one caption track.
- 1
Turn on captions in YouTube Studio
Stream settings → Closed captions on, and set the captions source to 'POST captions to URL'. Set the caption language to the one you will send.
- 2
Copy the captions ingestion URL
It looks like upload.youtube.com/closedcaption?cid=… — copy it as is.
- 3
Paste it into the control room
Paste it into the 'YouTube CC' field, pick the language, press Start. Once connected, the 'YouTube' status chip counts the lines sent.
- 4
Match the broadcast delay
Set YouTube's stream latency to Normal (30–60 s recommended) so captions and video line up. Ultra-low latency can let captions run ahead.
- To show several languages at once, add the viewer link or the overlay below.
OBS · any platform
Burn captions into the video with an OBS overlay
Add the transparent caption screen as an OBS browser source and captions ride along wherever you stream: YouTube, TikTok, Shopee.
- 1
Copy the overlay link
In the control room's output panel, copy the 'OBS overlay' link. There is one per language.
- 2
Add a browser source in OBS
Add Source → Browser → paste the URL, size it to your canvas (e.g. 1920×1080). Leave 'shutdown source when not visible' off.
- 3
Position and size
Place the caption band along the bottom; font size and alignment live in the control room's screen settings and change live.
TikTok Shop · app lives
Caption an app-only live with no stream key
When a stream key is locked away (TikTok LIVE Studio and friends), route OBS Virtual Camera into the app and the captioned picture goes out as is.
- 1
Build the scene in OBS
Put the barolive overlay browser source above your camera source.
- 2
Start the virtual camera
Press 'Start Virtual Camera' in OBS controls. Keep your mic as it is.
- 3
Pick the camera in the app
In TikTok LIVE Studio, Shopee or your streaming app, choose 'OBS Virtual Camera' as the camera. Done.
Viewer link · embed
A viewer page in each viewer's language
Put the link or QR on the screen or in the chat and listeners pick their own language. On a web page, use the embed code.
- 1
Copy the viewer link and QR
From the control room's 'Embed' panel, copy the viewer link and the QR.
- 2
Pin it in the description and chat
YouTube description, TikTok profile, a pinned chat message.
- 3
Paste the embed code
Paste the iframe code into a web page and captions flow inside it.
Video meetings
Zoom, Meet and Teams through a Chrome tab
Open the meeting in a Chrome tab and share that tab's audio; captions start. Inviting an AI interpreter into the meeting is coming soon.
- 1
Pick the meeting purpose
In the quick start choose 'Company meeting' and set the languages.
- 2
Share the meeting tab audio
Press Start in the control room, pick the Chrome tab the meeting runs in, and tick 'Share tab audio'.
- 3
Hand out the captions
Share the attendee link in the meeting chat. For Zoom, a caption API token can also put captions inside the meeting.
Tips while live
Terms early, numbers clearly
Register names, brands and specialist terms before you start. Numbers and names are re-checked against the original speech.
Speak in sentences
Finish one sentence before the next. Lower background music for better recognition.
Fix terms mid-stream
Correct a wrong term in the control room and it applies from the next sentence.
Keep the transcript
Afterwards, download the transcript per language and reuse it for notes or a summary.
